Hedgebrook Writers Conference
Day #1 with Idrissa Simmonds-Nastili
Friday, September 29th
WORKSHOP INTENSIVE:
In The Art of Death, Edwidge Danticat states that “we cannot write about death without writing about life.” How do we create a moment of awe on the page in the midst of a character’s greatest loss? This generative workshop will examine how writing grief can move beyond a static space of describing a character’s emotional distress - rather, writing grief can offer a moment of wonder or transformation that creates new openings in a story, novel, or poem.
INDUSTRY TALK:
Embodiment as a tool for getting unstuck - learn tools on how to move forward with a project if you are dealing with procrastination or lack of clarity on a main character.
Please note that the industry talks are pre-recorded and will be viewed and processed in small work groups after the workshop intensive.
