Workshop: Everything You Write Is A Haunted House

A generative writing intensive that investigates character and setting along the axis of past, present, and future. Participants will explore how we haunt our own discreet places through the lens of time. Analyze texts for the hauntings and the ghosts and engage in writing exercises that activate settings through character or point of view.

Industry Lesson: Care Plans for Shadowy Work

Saturday, September 21 with *Dionne Ford

Workshop: No Time Like the Present: Making Sense of Things in the Moment

Through discussions of texts and writing exercises, participants will explore the present circumstance that is calling them to go back and get the urgent story that only they can tell.

Industry Lesson: Coming soon!

*Please note that Dionne is now the instructor as Ashley C. Ford had to cancel.

Sunday, September 22 with T Kira Māhealani Madden

Workshop: The Future is Back to the Land

A discussion-based writing intensive that explores the narrative velocity of the path not taken. What is the speculative memoir of a hypothetical scenario of yourself on another timeline? Participants will read and analyze the structure of other writers and model a non-technological, land-based narrative for dreaming and building a future.

Industry Lesson: The Family Tree of Writing
