From the Farmhouse Table: December 2020
A Whirlwind of Change
This year will indelibly mark all of our lives as the time when everything changed and no aspect of our lives went untouched. The meaning of community has shifted while the need for connection increased, and transition is the name of the game.
I am so honored to transition from alum to being a part of Hedgebrook’s internal team, working for a mission I wholeheartedly believe in, as we weather quarantine and find opportunities in the whirlwind of change. And what wonderful opportunities there have been - through virtual offerings, we've been able to bring the joy of Hedgebrook’s Radical Hospitality to women-identified writers all over the world!
As the earth lies fallow and resting through this winter, our work continues. The team is going full steam to ensure our community remains nourished and uplifted, and we could not do this work without your Radical Generosity.
Your support makes it possible to continue our pay-what-you-can model for online classes and live webinars, offer scholarships for women of color to attend our retreats, and steward the beautiful land and cottages in preparation for welcoming new writers-in-residence for years to come. We are laying foundations for sustainable virtual and in-person programming and events, featuring women writers who are shaping, healing, and informing our world every day.
I urge you to consider how Hedgebrook and its writers have inspired and nourished you and make a gift today as a part of #GivingTuesday! You can also find us on our GiveBIG Washington page!
After a successful run of 12 live webinars and an array of self-paced online classes, we just wrapped two virtual Radical Craft Retreats - an experiment in fostering hospitality and creativity while stuck at home - and are engaging more of our brilliant alumnae for a bevy of offerings in 2021.
We’ll launch the year with another Radical Craft Retreat, led by Minal Hajratwala, of The Unicorn Authors Club fame. You can learn more about this offering here, and consider this your personal invitation to join me for our last live webinar of the year, an exploration in ekphrastic poetry, on December 12!
